Stainless 316 wire, Melbourne or online?

Post by zebedee »

I'm looking for about 60m of 7x19 (very flexible) 3.2mm (1/8") 316 stainless wire for a bore pump safety wire, used to support the pump at the bottom of a rather deep hole.

I can get a roll of 305m (1000 feet) from $260 locally.

I can order it for around $1.10/m online plus shipping from Sydney.

Lowcostwire also sell it on ebay for around $1.50/m including shipping.
eg: 10m, $15, 50m $71.47

Keble trading don't have prices online, obviously I'll talk to them in the morning (and report back with a price).

Does anybody have any other suggestions, ideally in Melbourne or between here and Wodonga?

Does anybody in Melbourne want any 7x19 1/8" 316 wire if I buy a drum?

Hi Zeb,
I've been doing balustrading for 25 years. I only use Korean wire from Arcus or Miami Stainless because of staining and rusting issues with cheaper Chinese stuff. Don't expect cheap stuff to last forever. Especially cheap 7 X 19 which is made up of tiny wires that can easily frey.

I probably would, but it's not my bore hole!
Thanks all.
