Aluminium, unlike steel or stainless steel, has no fatigue limit.
You can stress steel (including stainless) to about half its ultimate tensile stress an indefinite number of cycles without suffering fatigue failures.
With aluminium, less stress allows more cycles, but there is NO level of stress at which it will not eventually fatigue.

Furthermore, drilled holes, nicks, scratches, etc, can very easily become the starting point for a fatigue crack because they provide a stress concentrator.

Greg was involved in designing semi trailer tank trailers in aluminium at one stage, but they were very carefully designed and built, and like an aircraft, they had a defined design life beyond which they could be expected to suffer cracking problems. The increased payload possible due to reduced weight was worth enough over the life of a heavy commercial vehicle to justify the cost and the limited life of the trailers.

He was particularly scathing of an aluminium trailer someone had sold his neighbour which looked like a sound design until they used steel spring clips to secure the wiring to the bottom of the aluminium I beam structure, scratching it and providing a different metal to start electrolysis in exactly the wrong place.

This may well be a project boat but hard to tell from the images. If I had more time and energy I would buy it to get the 4 stroke outboard and the gunwale strip that I was shopping for. But then I would have to sell off the rest which would be hard. Anyway it is far cheaper than any regular I563 so may be worth a look for someone.

Farr 6000 $26,500.00 Phew! BUT it is the very sought after model with the sliding hatch and scissor lift pop top and IF the near new trailer is purpose built with ladder keel rollers it certainly would be a desirable boat.
EDIT:-No mention of the condition or age of the sails, Like most of us he has probably ove rcapitalised it and dreams he can get his money back. Anything that has wheels or floats usually shows a loss when moving on, but what price enjoyment?
