Transducer placement Sonata 26

Post by hoges1234 »

I have a Lowrance 7HDI chart plotter. From what I have read the transducer won't shoot through a foam cored hull. I do have a depth sounder and log under the fore berth. They are through hull. Do I have to remove the inner skin and fill the area with solid glass for the transducer to work? I did see that Moody Blue has a transducer in the same position. Advice appreciated.

Our depth sounder is in the front locker behind the water bladder. It is a through hull unit though. This area on an S26 IS solid glass so you can try it shooting through the hull. To my knowledge whatever you use to set the unit in place has to set fairly solid. Silicone is usually too soft.
