Site posting times
HI all,
Can I get some feedback on the time it takes from submitting a new post to the time it "appears"
I am seeing double posts and so I assume members are assuming something broke and trying again.
Thanks.
ps this took 90 seconds to post and this is NOT acceptable

Re: Site posting times
I've just removed a duplicate first post from a new member. I probably remove three or four duplicate posts a week.
I've only ever managed to delete one of a pair as Jeff deleted the other one of the pair at the same time once; I managed to recover it somehow.
(63 seconds)
(and yet only 4 seconds when I edited the 63 seconds into the post)

Re: Site posting times
Yes once you post - it takes ages - but an immediate follow up post is very fast . . . . trying to figure what is happening.

Re: Site posting times
I suspect it is a MYSQL database server issue. We share that resource with other users. There are many dropped requests due to overloading so the delays are probably waiting for the request to actually make it to the server. Once you post the lookups are still in the cache when you do a follow up post within in a short time and this second post is quicker. I notice this when posting yachts for sale. The speed up options I have found are thus not configurable at our end. Still looking.

Re: Site posting times
Same here. I often post a reply then go off looking at something else and come back a minute or so later and no sign of the post until I come back later.
edit: I timed this simple post that took 43 seconds to appear after pressing the "Submit" button.

My post have been appearing almost straight away
I have been using Tapatalk. This does frequently give me an error saying it wasn’t posted but when I check the post is there??

Re: Site posting times
I find when there is a delay with the post 'posting', often for many seconds, if I press submit again the site will pull it's finger out and notify that there has been a subsequent post made since I tried to make mine & I might want to reconsider my current post. I then reverse (back space) out of the conversation. The attempt to submit again seems to push the original post through sort of thing.

To put things in perspective the development site here: https://trailersailerplace.yachtcrazy.com

Note most times this site is disabled for posting . . .
