Re: Questions from a First Timer

I have a sabre 22 with swing keel that I sail in the broadwater and up into Morton bay most of the time. I will be selling her before the end of the year if you are interested and I'd be happy to show you the ropes. Good registered trailer as I drive her up from Nthn NSW and launch at horizon shores...

Re: Free to good home-Honda BF8A for spare parts

Great. Let's do it. I'd hate to have to donate it to a wrecking yard. I'm moving house in 3 weeks so it'd be convenient to ship it before then as it's been in the shed the whole time. I can drain and strap to a pallet and deliver it into lismore. Work on 36kgs plus say 5kg pallet? Let me know what y...

Re: Free to good home-Honda BF8A for spare parts

Note the oil leak did not occur when the outboard was in the water. It had been out of the water on the trailer for weeks. This means the internals will not have been affected by water when the engine block failed.

Free to good home-Honda BF8A for spare parts

Year 2000 model. Was running fine till 3 years ago engine oil started leaking from the block. Instantly retired with no further investigations. Suspect water jacket corrosion.
Also
2 spare props.
Owners manual
Hose flush connector

Can be collected from Northern Rivers NSW area
Photos to come.

Tastes like tap water.
Ha! My water tastes like water from the heavens...because it is!

Its a good project for the layup - plenty of time for the smell/taste to dissipate.

Got to look on the bright side 8)

Re: HAWKESBURY RIVER

Heading for the Hawkesbury in 2 weeks from Northern NSW. Can anyone tell me the uppermost part of the river when the powerlines and/or bridges become an impediment? Lets say around the 12m height. p.s. likely to launch around the Mooney Mooney pt region and head upstream. p.p.s. i am guessing Wisema...

... the motor has a tilt angle adjustment with a pin going through a choice of holes to adjust the angle of the outboard fore and aft. Once this is set, it can remain untouched. As promised Mark (Newby), i have added the pics to help you identify the tilt mechanism that Peter Y is talking about. to...

Re: OUTBOARD MOUNT

Mark this is not quite what Furstin means. You are referring to the tilt adjustment which allows for lifting the OB when in shallow water. He is referring to a pin on the OB which allows for fine adjustments which you set and forget, and provides vertical alignment adjustment. When I get mine back f...

Re: sabre 22 trailer rims

I have finally sorted out my replacement rims, so here's the summary to aid other S22 owners. Old Torana HT rims will fit, but you can't get them any more. Apparently you could "get them made" ...unsure of cost. So unless you have a couple lying about, you'd have to find some old ones which are gett...

Re: Drying Out a Sabre 22

Jezza in the early days we mucked around with fenders under the hull to prop us up when drying, but now I just don't bother. If the bottom is mud or soft sand the stub keel will settle in as the water receeds. We have done this many times with 2 adults 2 kids over night. Just make sure they don't ma...

Re: sabre 22 trailer rims

Hi Pete, similar rims on mine. As far as I know they are not made like that any more. Biggest issue I can see is when you get a flat tyre.. the front set is different to rear as far as I can see? I am replacing my braked rims and hubs/tyres this year and possibly all wheels, but probably later in y...

Hi Zeb, My hubs are same as Pete's. i was going to replace with 13inch gal rims etc. Does the inset braked hub mean I'l have to replace the front axle as well as it wont be long enough? Re: sabre 22 trailer rims

Thanks Gents - as usual the brains trust has come through...the HT rims fit perfectly. Can't believe it was such an easy solution given the convoluted look of the alloys. Plenty of room for the calipers as well as mud guard clearance. BTW Jez, my alloy rims are the same on both front and rear axles....

sabre 22 trailer rims

Seeking 13" alloy rims for an original trailer made by sabre circa mid 80s. sabre rim.jpg You can see this one has some damage around the dust cap. sabre calipers.jpg The inside photo shows the cavity for beehive disk hub callipers to fit. i.e. i think i need to find a fairly exact rim match for the...
