the cal is staying, I will still use the cal for solo trips, it is just too much fun, i am sure if she was not here I would miss her.
Good move! I sometimes wish I had kept Gypsy for the same reasons. All the worse because the buyer didn't have a clue and she will end up being neglected. But he paid a fair price and Tricksy is a far more versatile boat for a small group of people (ie. more than 2!)

That boat is so cheap it's suspicious. Photos make the interior look good. With a trailer and all...

This boat has been around for a while now. Hull looks OK, but on a trailer, this boat would weigh around 3 tonnes, possibly a bit more. So a legal trailer to suit would add perhaps another $15K to the price. Then the diesel is out of the boat and another potential big expense. No sign of a mast, but presumably there is one. Hydraulic CB weighs about 500kg and would be another huge expense if it wasn't OK. Then you would need to look at a toilet and possibly a holding tank and fittings. So with transport and all the above, potentially this could become a $35K to $40K outfit.

I sold my last SC25 for $15K and it was fully functioning and on a good yard trailer.

They are great boats, although more comfortable than quick.

Unless you really want a project - BEWARE!

Yep. I was fascinated by the description, over built! How do you overbuild a southcoast ? send it to the people who built the Missouri ?

On another note yesterday on gumtree there appeared very briefly an ad for wharram catamaran plans, tiki 30 and tiki 38. $50! I wrote to the seller to ask if they were study plans. The person who replies said they thought they were full building plans but they had already sold. If they were then that was a good $1500 plus second hand value.... someone might be relisting them soon for a profit..

My first SC25 was new and built to survey as it was going into the charter fleet (Marc Hall Marine) in Metung. It had a Marine Board registered number. I believe it entailed a heavier lay-up and also stronger rigging. It was fitted with a Volvo diesel.

My second one, 'SaltPeter' seemed just as strongly built, but wasn't built to survey. It was built to take an outboard in a well.

I'm assuming the advertised boat was built to survey for commercial use.
