Replacement swing keel for Cole 23

Post by Deanos78 » Oct 18th, '12, 08:14

Hi All,

We are looking to purchase our first trailer sailer (a Cole 23) and would love some advice from all you experienced sailers :)

I had a look through the other posts and couldn't see anything similar - so please forgive me if there is already a thread relating to this and if so please point me in the right direction!

We have found one that has lost its swing keel for 6k, (apparently the pin gave out and it was lost at sea) so we will need to get a replacement. Is it easy to get one made? I assume they are made from galv plate steel? Can I get a template from somewhere or make one myself? Are they easy to install or is it a major?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are from Mission Beach is any one close by?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum. there are a couple of Cole 23 owners, and a few ex ones, on here so all should be along sometime to offer their advice. 8) In the meantime this thread from the archives(type in Cole 23 keel in the search thread) may help.
