Jeff

I am also getting a screen which reads 'You do not have permission to view this page' or words to that effect

Is there something that I need to do to access?

We have a minor technical issue.

I haven't written the content yet!

My intention is to write a post demonstrating various features of the editor, with a screen shot of the editor window so you can see what it looks like as you write it (rather than just when you read it).

Since you can't normally see what has been typed into the editor to get the post you are reading, I'll start with an image.

This is what this post looks like as I compose it:

To insert an image into your post you use the insert image icon which looks like this: Image

You can:
A) type/paste the image location first, then highlight it and click the image icon, or
B) click the image icon, then type/past the image location into the insert image window that comes up, or
C) type Image

How to link to a url so people can click on your text to see it.
This is what this looks like as I compose it: Image

Here's a really useful website I found about trailer sailers and this is the same url made clickable: http://www.trailersailerplace.com.au/

As with inserting images, you can:
A) Click the URL icon Image and then insert the url and any text, or
B) Highlight the text (or url) and then click on the URL icon Image, or
C) Manually type out the required code as seen in the image of this post, back up at the top of this post.

Ahh yes, the how to do stuff forum is still locked down and empty.

We need a how to do stuff for moderators section!

I am trying to upload a photo into a post but no longer seem to be able to do so. Is this all part of the one problem or has something changed and I am no longer able to do that? (the photo is on my hard disk and has been reduced down to 140KB)

Thanks for the offer of help but seem to have solved the problem by dropping the file size down a bit further to 70KB.
Many thanks

Thanks Tez, yes Sailingpeter mentioned this under the thread in the General group of topics and hence I dropped it down in size.

When we setup the forum, there was a default size limitiation on file attachments. Now, back in the day when we all had dial up, this was very important, but now with broadband, the time taken to download pictures is much better. The only issue is now file storage. We have a huge capacity, so this is not an issue. So maybe the admins could look at increasing the size of the attachments.

BTW, I do chuckle to myself when I download a 9Gb blueray version of a movie, and compare it to the 20kb pictures we downloaded in the 90's. What will it be like in another 20 years?

I tried to post some photos but they were too large.
How do you re-size a photo down from 1M or so?
Which program do you use etc?
Regards Mark.

You can use Microsoft paint too.
All windows computers have it.

I use Paint.Net. It is also a free program http://www.getpaint.net/.

Once loaded on your machine go:
File --> Open --> then select the photo you want to resize from your hard disk
Once the image loads in Paint.Net go:
Image --> resize --> then selected 'percentage' and I usually select something in the range 40-50% (you will have to fiddle with this depending on the size of your files)
Then go:
Save as --> type in the name of the resized file --> the image will then come up showing the new file size and you can adjust this up or down with the sliding arrow
Then just hit 'OK' and the job is done

I am a bit of a computer neanderthal - so for those that crawl around on all fours on a computer, like I do, the above may be of help.
