I'm off to Little Ships Club with the family tomorrow, leaving from Victoria Pt. Should be a fairly quick reach over there in the morning and a quieter sail home with the wind easing off during the day. Will I see anyone else on the water tomorrow?

Or maybe not! Just studied the forecasts and see the wind will be dropping later in the day than I thought, and won't be dropping by as much as I thought.

Yep not exactly family sailing circumstances right now. Won't be out this weekend other plans. I want to plan a sat/sun sleepover at Peel soon with wife and kids. should meet up then.

I was out there. Great sail until the main halyard snapped. 33knots was the biggest gust we got on board. Had the boat doing about 8-9knots with the storm jib up, sitting back having a couple of rums. Great day on the water until we got near home, and drowned the outboard in badly executed tack that saw the boat briefly sail backwards.

Little ships club is on North Straddie Island. Near the VMR and boat ramp at dunwich.

Slainte and Mees, yes let's plan to meet at Peel. I doubt whether I'd overnight there will will be keen to make a day trip.

Paul, I've only been to LSC once, and tied up at the pontoon. The meals were good. Just remember to take your hat off before going in.

Andy, sounds like fun yesterday. I spent years crewing on a Flying Fifteen where we considered anything below 15 knots to be boring sailing, but unfortunately with a landlubber family they'd just be put off if we went out in 20 knot conditions.

So today might be ok by the looks - 2 knots observed at Peel compare to the 20+ forecast. I'll give it a couple of hours to see how it develops.

I've decided to can it for today - I don't want to take the risk of having to sail back home into increasing winds

Sunday Peel looks like a plan. Not a great deal of wind forecast at the moment but very unsettled weather forecast for the end of the week. Will try to get there before 1 this time  don,t think we will have teenagers this time.

Hoping the nor easter will come in?? Odd weather to date ey' Friggen westerlies at this time of year? Climate change my Anus, this part of the world is going to global cooling. Fingers crossed it comes good, I would love to join you but I broke to many things on my boat on the weekend.

Any of you lads do the combined clubs races? I might try and sail a few of them this year providing there is not too many clashes with our club races.

Andy,
There is one Combined Clubs race left this year on Oct 16th. There are about a dozen TS's from WMYC who regularly do the CC races, 4 or 5 of whom do them singlehanded (no one silly enough to crew for us). As well as the CC races there is the St Helena cup on the following weekend, the RQ Goodwill cup on Sat 5th Nov and the Vic Lucas Cup on the 27th Nov.

You should be able to find something in that lot.

Cheers
Chris

I'm not a member of any club and don't do any racing at the moment. I suppose I should get off my backside and do something about that.

Looking at the current seabreeze chart the wind is really messed up. Might have to drag out the kitesurfing gear to get a water fix.

Unlikly for me. I got to fix the keel hydraulics and run a new mainsail halyard. Could possibly put the stinky in the water and do a run over, but to have a beer would require a driver.

There´s a birthday sunday I have to attend to :(
I also want to go over all the vital stainless parts of my standing rig (see thread SS failure)
And I have my keel winch dismantled but that will be fixed today so that´s no excuse.
Wish you all a great day hopefully I´ll be there next time
