SQL errors getting worse

Post by Peter Yates » Oct 1st, '18, 12:45

Afraid that now I cannot access the main forum "Spotted. TS for sale on the net".

So I won't be able to post Gumtree ads until it is fixed.

I seem to be able to access some other threads, but often not the threads with lots of posts on them if that helps.

Unless an admin. can fix this problem, TSP is going to struggle. :(

Problem seems to have started after Tapatalk was reinstalled. May be coincidence.

Anyway I have asked Simon to help as my pay grade, and/or knowledge level does not allow me to do much.

Also contacted Netregistry Support to see if they can help.

Regards

Jeff (MoodyBlue)

Edit. And I get an SQL error for just making this post :x :x :x :x

Thanks Jeff.

I seem to have access again, albeit with a long time delay after clicking on a forum. Also when I use "view your posts", not all of them appear.

But at least it seems to work for me and hopefully everyone else.

Here's hoping!

Seems to be working for me too,but not been advised by anyone higher up of any fixes or changes.
Edit: Just got this reply.

Hi Jeff,

I’m writing in regard to the customer support request you raised with us.

I checked your website and noticed the database errors was caused by your PHP Bulletin Board which can only support lower PHP version. I have reverted your cPanel PHP version from 5.6 to 5.4 which fixed the issue. If you would like to use higher version of PHP, you need to update your PHP Bulletin Board.

Not such a useful response - the grammar suggest english not first language - but better than nothing.
cPanel is used to manage the site not to run the site so I fail to understand the context cPanel was mentioned in.
This makes some sense though "your PHP Bulletin Board which can only support lower PHP version".
The latest stable release of phpBB is 3.2.3 so it was not the phpBB version that was reverted. I suspect that cPanel was used to revert the version of mySQL from 5.6 to 5.4

But all of the above is largely irrelevant . . consider this a long post to see if I get an SQL error . . every for sale post I made resulted in an SQL error earlier in the week . .

. . . nope just got an SQL error . . .

so I am wrong . . from here: https://support.netregistry.com.au/arti ... on-support
"Our cPanel servers support PHP versions 5.2 through to 5.6 and 7.0."

I still get an error on some threads, if I wait a couple of hours I can access them again. If the post is lengthy I get a sql error, if it is short no error. This is in tapatalk and via the website.

I wish I could say that I understood any of the above!

Technology has left me behind and judging by the stream of errors, it has left all but the select few behind.

Lately my landline has been playing games. Firstly the caller ID function stopped working, then calls would only be heard by one or other but not both parties, then no dial tone etc etc. Rang India on my mobile (Telstra 132200) and the good lady in India fixed the problem from there. Seems they can control our exchanges from overseas so it might pay to stay on their good side!

My daughter in a nearby town has been having identical issues with her landline for a similar period of time, so it isn't just our modem or something. Clearly a larger problem which can only be fixed from thousands of miles away

Thanks Simon,
Now that I know what a "hamburger menu" is, I seem to be able to use the forum again quite nicely, so we appreciate your efforts.

On a side note all the special formatting for TSP has gone from my viewing of the forum it has retuned to standard phpBB format, did I do or miss something?

Ie all the user icons now on right and has drop down list of short cuts on left rather than across the top etc
