Tried to say Hello, but got the wave.

Gas Explosion on board

Very interesting video about how a gas explosion can destroy your boat.

Hi Nick,

Congratulations on the new boat. I'm jealous.
Sorry to see a member of the McGregor Association go.

Re: Melbourne TSP get together and play with outboards day

There is a free 2 plate BBQ and a covered area some 100mtrs past the carpark towards PPB. There are several other benches there as well. Whether the BBQ's work is anyones guess, but they were greasy.

Re: Gippsland Lakes at Easter

Having a good time at the lakes, but no sailing. :( The kids have not interest, so only doing some motoring. Might hopefully get a sail in on Tuesday, when they are gone.
Had a great dinner with the Baysiders on Thursday night at the pub though.

Re: Gippsland Lakes at Easter

We will be on the lakes for Easter. Have rented a house for 6 days as the whole tribe is coming up too. Not sure how much sailing we'll get in with a son that only likes boats with 600hp plus and a daughter that gets a bit weazy on the boat. Anyway the house has a mooring, so will see what happens.

Re: McGregor26M

I agree with 9er. The boat is designed for what it is. You can modify it if you like, as we have done or at least improvements, but it appeals to the masses as a basic boat. BTW.. WD40 works wonders on the rotating mast washers, even though I have changed them as well. Highlander on the USA site mus...

The MacGregor 26M's have a rotating mast, but I could not tell you if it is better or worse, as this is the first TS I own. There is a statement on the MAC site on the "advantages".

The boat is kept at the lakes at the moment, so weather permitting a good possibility.

On our recent visit to Austria we stayed at Neusiedler See, largest lake in Austria. In one of the marinas there were 2 Mac's, 26M and 26X and quite a few bigger boats than that. On the lake there are no petrol outboards allowed, apart from the passenger ferries and even those are limited. So all bo...

Don't think we should complain about tides anymore. It was still going out when we took this picture in Normandy, France.

I imported mine and yes, I had a few hassles, but was it worth it and would I do it again More than likely Yes.
It was an experience and for some strange reason fun and I saved at that time about 25%.

I agree that education is the answer, but that is not what the politicians and bureaucrats want to hear. It is the same with the car licensing system in this country. It is my firm believe that a great percentage of Australian drivers would not "survive" a drive or let alone a test in any European c...

Tim,

Melbourne Water owns the wooden jetties and we pay an annual lease (peanuts). If you want a concrete jetty you will have to pay for the difference in cost, although that offer expires once the new jetties go in.

Have not been down the river for some 5 months, but get plenty of mail from Melbourne Water about all the work they are planning, including replacing our jetty. Wouldn't mind joining the get together, but we are off overseas shortly for some 9 weeks.
