Re: Spotted. TS's for sale on the net.

Very true Greg but what was wrong with $30K negotiable? Marketing, or should I say Advertising, 101! 99c is far more attractive than $1. Look at any car yard and you'll see this to full effect. Lots of 990's rather than round hundreds or thousands. This is not a $30,000 boat, it's a $29,990 one and...

Re: Anchor, chain & rode storage

+1 for nylon (poly really doesn't have a serious place in your anchoring armour). It costs a bit more but you'll be so glad you replaced the poly with nylon. I recently completed a delivery of a beautiful Jeanneau Sunfast 3200 from Hobart to Sydney. There was no anchor locker on this boat and the an...

Our little Ross 650 weaves back and forth on her anchor when the keel is up. Our Ross 780 did the same thing!
On his Airwave Airtime, GeoffR rigged a backsail to help prevent this...

Oops... (don't look if power boats offend you!)

(Hopefully I've removed any identifying elements from this post) So... some of you are aware that, since leaving gainful employment with Queensland's Opera Company, besides some behind-the-scenes freelancing, I do the odd delivery. My next delivery was scheduled to be a power boat from Perth. I rece...

Re: Has anyone used a drogue to cope with a following sea?

Citrine - where are you sailing? Your Sunmaid should handle just about anything thrown at it. Many have made coastal passages - or in the least, competed in coastal sailing. 4-5 ft waves are quite significant - I'd expect you should be tucked up in bed ashore if conditions are such you need to deplo...

Re: can anyone tell me what this is ? 25' yacht gumtree

In Queensland, car's no longer have rego stickers so DTMR give you a search facility for you to check. So I searched the rego number on the stern from the photo. I didn't know whether it would work until I gave it a go... The system doesn't care if you're searching for a boat!

Re: I did my first over night at anchor

I support INMA's post... research, spec and deploy your anchoring system correctly and you'll be able to relax at anchor. Invest in the very best anchoring equipment.

I do remember someone once saying that a good anchor is cheap insurance!

**** BRISBANE / SOUTHPORT / MOOLOOLABA ****

I was tempted to resurrect Coop's 2015 post but decided against it. However, this ad, announcing a 15% OFF ALL STOCK sale at Whitworths, was in this morning's Courier Mail. Friday and Saturday only.

Re: Navigation gps Apps?

I'm a big fan of iSailor. Have done four deliveries (over 6600 nm) with a skipper using iSailor on an iPad. The app has so much to offer when you begin to get into it. The skipper also had it installed on his phone so he could check our progress from his bunk or while watching movies! :-) Three of t...

Love Wunderlist. Long time user. Was a "Pro" user until they stopped charging for it in April this year.

Microsoft bought Wunderlist and plan to morph it into "Microsoft To-Do"... some have said it's time to look for a new to-do list!

Still have a set of car scales... four pads in total, similar to this in Brisbane.

If anyone would like to use them (I'm in Brisbane's inner north) just PM me with your contact details and we can arrange a mutually suitable time.

Cheers

Murray, It seems to me that people are not recognising a brilliant design? They seem intent on using second rate ideas that will never perform as well. Thanks for reposting the pics. Re: Mast Raising systems on B20's

So you don't have to go searching for the photos, here's the arrangement from our former Ross 780. We inherited this from the previous owner so I can't claim any credit. What I can say is that it was simple and very effective - the mast is stabilised through the whole operation and you can stop at a...

Hi kduvey (welcome to the forum) - the image posted by MoodyBlue is the A-Frame set-up we had on our Ross 780 (since sold). As it came with the boat, I can't claim credit for its design nor fabrication but what I can say is that it was awesome. The fundamental difference from the klackospars example...

Re: launching a sabre 22

Last year, we witnessed a Sabre (25, I think) do the "reverse down the ramp at speed and slam on the brakes". Clearly a manoeuvre he'd done before; the crew were on the adjacent floating walkway with bow line to follow it off the trailer. While it was impressive to watch (and listen to), I couldn't ...

Certainly a trip to remember. No fish... The skipper is vegetarian and I agreed, for ease of catering, to be vegetarian for the voyage.

Re: Dark Sider: Motor Yacht delivery - Southport to Perth

Although the Sunseeker 86 is designed to cruise at 23 knots, with a top speed of 32, we cruised at around 10 knots - to get the range. At this speed, we had no need to carry any additional fuel tanks (the 60 footer coming back, at only 2600 lts capacity, will require a 1000 ltr fuel cell to be on th...

Dark Sider: Motor Yacht delivery - Southport to Perth

Not sure where this sits in the Board Forums... I returned to Brisbane late on Thursday after helping deliver a 2009 Sunseeker 86 motor yacht from Southport to Perth. The voyage of some 2,660nm (5,000kms) via the southern route, across the Great Australian Bight, took us just under two weeks actual ...
