I have some various headsails for my sc23 that I've never used all in great condition in their original bags . Mostly north sails brand . Also have a fully battened main for a 16 foot catamaran and a larger set of brand new sails that look like they'd go on somewhere arround a 28 / 30 foot boat . Ho...

Re: Mast Mate and other mast raising systems

The Mast on my sc23 was way to heavy to stand single handed and after trying a bunch of different methods i ended up making this thing .

Re: better roller pins ?

Thanks guys . I removed half the roller pins 1 at a time and took the rust off the worst of them with a sanding disc followed by a generous helping of marine grease . getting the split pins out is a real pain . wish there was a better design .

better roller pins ?

Currently my trailer is fitted with steel roller pins most of them are rusty and due for a service . They have a split pin at both ends that are quite a pain to remove . Has anyone seen a better system or is a hole at each end and a split pin fairly standard ?

Re: Mast Mate and other mast raising systems

Our SC 23 has a heavy mast so i came up with this contraption to help out and it lets me get the boat in the water in under 20mins . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsZCOl0H7hg It's not clear on my little iPhone screen but is the reason you don't go fully vertical due to your bracket hitting the ca...

Re: New winch for our Northwind 7 trailer

One of my friends recently bought an ebay winch that looks sort of like the power winch (black with a remote) and it overloaded and cut out about 6 times getting his boat on i think it was around $150.00 Before blaming this on the winch, measure the voltage at the winch terminals when it stalls out...

Re: Hervey Bay Whale Watching

Head north from the Urangan marina and follow the inside coastline of Frasier island . Stay out from the coast a little and you will see plenty . Just look for a crowd of other boats . Honestly they are not hard to find :)

Re: New winch for our Northwind 7 trailer

We have a old Powerwinch 912 and it has been a real champ . If and when it dies i would not hesitate to buy another . They are expensive but you get what you pay for . We have an sc23 so basically the same boat as yours and the power winch handles loading the boat with the trailer fully tilted and f...

Re: Launching & retrieving

Seems to me like you have a couple of options that could help you could get your helper to stand on the trailer with the winch cable ready to clip on . Install some guide posts as far back on the trailer as possible . get a centering roller for the very last roller on your set of keel rollers . A pl...

Re: Feeling beaten .. Any advice appreciated

I could not get my outboard running right the other week tried everything carb stripped and cleaned and she would idle fine but when you gave it some revs it would bog down . After a whole day of troubleshooting I gave in and took it to the dealership . They plugged it in to an external fuel tank an...

Re: What do you use as a Tender? (if you have one)

We use an old zodiac inflatable "rollup" with the timber slats and the seat removed to save weight . On the transom I have a 4hp 2stroke from maxus outboards . Gets 2 adults and 2 kids to the beach and back when I can't beach the boat . Will only go fast with 1 person in the right spot on the boat.

Re: movie , All is lost , staring Robert Redford

I found that regardless of all the errors they still managed to do a good job of telling a story . How everything can go pear-shaped and when nothing seems to be going right you can still have a bit of good luck right at the times you need it . I liked it . :)
