Re: Vale INMA (Greg Beanland)

A great loss for his family. Greg was such a big part of the TSP family and will be sorely missed by all. Sue and my condolences to his family.

Pittwater

Hello all, we are taking Blue Pointer down to Pittwater for two weeks next week. Have not been down that way for a while so looking forward to the sail down and then renewing our acquaintance in this area. Just about finished prepping the boat and spent Saturday and Sunday going over the motors chec...

Re: Broken hatch lens.

Hi Graeme, having replaced a few hatches etc I have had great success in taking the offending piece to a plastics manufacturer. I have found if they have the original they can copy the broken item almost perfectly including curves, holes and bevelling.

Re: Antifoul Crustaceans

G'day Dick, With the heat and rubbish in the Hunter River, its one of those areas that can foul a boat pretty quickly. Dependant on the type of antifoul you used and how it was applied also has an effect. I have our boat at Lake Macquarie and after 6 months there was a bit of slime and some very sma...

Return of Devondale Long life thickened cream

Hello all, I suppose the heading sounds a bit out there, BUT when Devondale stopped making this item ( and they were the only ones making it) there was a mutiny not only amongst the sailing fraternity but by campers, Grey Nomads and people living in remote areas. Sue and I have been using the long l...

Re: Plimsoll line

Hi Marcus, save yourself a lot of time and hassle and see if you can locate a songwriter or stripe installer. We have found it is a relatively cheap process for these people to come and put the required stripes on your boat. They also have the expertise to mark the line to make it look correct. We h...

Seriously Frank, you really believe what you just wrote. 1) Quote - I hate the obsolete, historical stuff like flares, smoke signals, even radio is inefficient, Cmon, really. How are you seriously going to pinpoint someone location with a mobile phone. If you are relying on them giving you a positio...

Re: New boat

Just a quick update. We left the boat at Hope Harbour on the gold coast while we did what I consider standard maintenance on the boat before we headed off. A really big engine and sail drive overhaul to check everything. Good job we did as we found crook bearings and worn shafts in both sail drives ...

Re: Insurance - Survey

Hello all, just some info but its becoming the norm that onece a boat reaches 15 years old insurance companies start requesting surveys before they will insure. Most only require a surveyor to do an on water check to check that the vessel is seaworthy. I am now starting to see the same insurance com...

Re: Insurance - New restrictions

After much searching and reviewing of offers we found a lot of differences with Insuarnce policies. Some policies will now just not cover for cyclones full stop. What we found with the ones who will not cover are underwritten buy companies located overseas such as Lloyds. I found that companies that...

Insurance - New restrictions

Hello all, We are in the throws of chasing insurance quotes and to be quite frank its getting very very restrictive for cruising sailers. We were with Topsail insurance who have been very good to date but the new policy had me gasping. In all our past insurance policies we were always covered for cy...

Hello Dustinoz, I think I can help :mrgreen As many on this site know I was and still am a keen Sabre enthusiast even though it been many a year since I last owned a Sabre. Prior to the Sabre I owned a drop keel Boomerang 20. There is no doubt in my mind that the Boomerang 20 was a better boat to sa...

Re: Western Port Marina - big price hike

Hi Stephen, personally based on the total amount of berthing your boat for the year I consider it cheap compared to some marinas here in NSW and also far north Queensland. I have just been advised that the casual berthing rate for our 12 metre cat is $160 a day at Abel Point Marina. Considering we a...

Sabre 22 Burgee -

This is purely aimed at current Sabre 22 owners. After many years Sue I am decluttering a lot of our nautical memorabilia. Part of that is a a very rare Sabre 22 burgee. Our old burgee saw many great sails on our old Sabre 22 Sovereign and Sabre 25 Sanctuary. As we have moved on to Keelers and Catam...
